So this is what I wore for my first Thesis Meeting.  I can't say it was utterly professional, but I also had to work our department's student association booth at first year orientation.  Since first years tend to cry when they meet grad students, I figured it would be best to look more like one of them.  This shirt is also from the trip to a thrift store with my mom a couple weeks ago.  My favourite part? It's super comfy!!

  1. Wait, why do they cry? I don't get it...

I do, however, think you look freaking adorable. I love the diagonal stripes, the purples, the skinny jeans...you just look great!

  2. I don't understand why they cry either.

I love this top on you! You look very non-threatening, haha.

  3. I suppose I should have explained crying comment. My experience has been that first years think of university as this amazing experience full of independence. After, oh, an hour of orientation, this idea is quickly replaced with overwhelming fear and the thought: "I want to get out of here as quickly as possible". Thus, when they meet someone of my ilk, who has been in university for 9 straight years, they view university more as a prison sentence than a flight into adulthood, and want to crawl back into the arms of their mommies.
Also, there are some unfounded rumours that grad students may eat first years who ask stupid questions in classes, tutoring sessions and labs.

  4. Comfy and stylish is a great combo....you look great!!! NICE thrifting find:)

  5. I've heard they eat first years. They go well with chocolate. :)

Thanks for explaining, that does make perfect sense. I can totally understand being intimidated and overwhelmed!

Thanks for stopping by! Let me know what you think!
