Tell tale signs of spring
To add to the downfalls of spring, my eyes are so dry and itchy from allergies that I've had to resort to glasses instead of contacts. As well, the beam of sunlight is rather inopportune considering my apartment is sweltering. And even though I hate working on take home exams, I am rather peeved that I continuously have to leave my apartment because we're moving soon, and so the leasing company is showing it to prospective new tenants.
However, today's 'right smack dab in the middle of my productivity showing did give me a reason to get out of my pajamas and into some clothes.
I've tried to keep my clothes from being "seasonal" to the best of my ability, but there is always something fabulous about new clothes in a new season. Today was probably as close as I get. I bought the tights last fall when I moved into this apartment and was at Walmart buying random cleaning supplies and the like. Being rather grumpy about moving in the first place, I figured I deserved a treat, and I loved the zippers on the sides.
I picked up the dress a few weeks back (same trip as the jacket). I'm not sold on it's fit, but the pattern I love.
And of course, throwing on sandals for the first time always helps too!

Copy Cat
Lo and behold, I did in fact find someone else equally as distracted by me, and decided she was so adorably cutely dressed I had to emulate her. While I don't have her skirt, I did the best I could with my American Apparel bandeau dress.
It was a little odd playing dress up around 7 at night with no plans to go out, so when the opportunity to go to Walmart came up, I went, even though it was definitely too cold for this outfit.

Blown Away
How windy is it here, you ask? According to the modern Beaufort scale, we are in "heavy storm" which is the category below "hurricane". We're seeing gusts of over 104 km / h (that's 65 miles, for you Americans). While I realize some of you do live in actual threat of hurricanes, this is pretty crazy for the prairies, especially for me. While I am a prairie girl, we rarely saw wind like this 3 1/2 hours east of where I am now. While people here are rather shocked at the gusts, for the most part, wind is just par for the course for them. I hope I don't get used to it!
It was a good thing I did change my outift: My walk from work to the bus doubled in length since sheets of glass and signs were falling off of the taller office buildings, essentially shutting down blocks of the city.

Brown is the colour of spring?
I bought the purse at Urban Planet for $5, and the jacket at Value Village for $8. The picture really doesn't do the jacket justice. It does need some patching in the back, but I'll get to that once exams and essays are over.
I have also decided that I'm going to put more effort into my clothing. My rule for this week is to either a) layer (and a hoodie doesn't count!) or accessorize. Today, I did both. I'm also mixing patterns, a floral tank with my argyle shoes. It's a start.
And I decided to do my hair in Kasmira's lazy girl's updo. I'm not convinced I like it, because, as you can see from the pictures, I look a little bald from the front, and a little crazy from the back. However, I didn't have much time this morning to get ready, as Scott and I are hoping to move into a new place, so we've been extra vigilant about keeping this place clean in case the leasing agent wants to show it. This morning consisted of making sure that my bed was made, and my make up was all put away.

Rain Shoes
However, today, I thought I'd encourage the weather a bit by wearing my yellow shoes - perfect for sunny skies, but constructed for rainy days.
And the redness of the skin? Well, it's either the first sunburn of the season, or it's really that warm in my apartment (and I did just double check that I have the heat turned off!)

Objects in mirror may be worse than they appear!
And then I took a picture (since my camera battery evidently lost its juice not being used), and now I'm horrified I went out in it.
My intent was to pull out the pink colour from the shirt. As you can tell from the pictures, this failed, and my legs thus look kind of crazy. I wondered why everyone was commenting specifically on the belt... and nothing else.
Oh well, lesson learnt...
